Type: Citrus tree (Nagami kumquat)
Sun / water: Full sun / water as needed
When I plant it: Late winter, early spring, early summer. Citrus can get heat stressed, so watch for signs such as discoloring leaves.
What I’ve seen
Small white flowers. Citrus trees do not like soggy “feet,” so do not overwater, but do not let them dry out and curl their leaves; that invites pests.
How I use it
Nagami has a sweet-tart flavor; depending on the variety, kumquats are sweet or sour. Ready to harvest in fall. You can eat the skin with the flesh.
New to my garden this year. I’ll update this as I learn more.
