Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 29, 2026

Augustus Gardens (“Augustus Gardens,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) runs augustusgardens.com (the “Site”), where we share Florida gardening stories, free guides, and paid digital guides. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Integrity over everything applies here too: we collect only what we need, and we never sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Email sign-ups. When you request a free guide or sign up for updates, you give us your email address and, if you choose, your first name.
  • Contact form and emails. When you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message.
  • Purchases. When you buy a paid guide, the checkout is handled by our sales platform, Payhip. Payhip collects your name, email address, and payment details to complete the order. We receive order details such as your name, email, and what you bought. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Comments. If comments are open on a post and you leave one, we collect the name, email, and comment you submit.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the Site and the tools that run it automatically collect some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the site that referred you, and general location (city or region level). This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.

How we use your information

  • To deliver the free guides and downloads you request
  • To send the emails you signed up for, such as new guides, Garden Journal stories, and seasonal Florida gardening reminders
  • To process and deliver your purchases and provide customer support
  • To respond to your questions and messages
  • To understand which content is useful so we can improve the Site
  • To keep the Site secure and prevent spam or abuse
  • To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations

Email updates and unsubscribing

Our email list is managed through Kit (formerly ConvertKit). Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave the list at any time. You can also email us at amy@augustusgardens.com and we will remove you.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files stored on your device. The Site and its tools use cookies to keep the Site working, to remember preferences, to show sign-up forms, and to understand how visitors use the Site. Tools that may set cookies or collect usage data include:

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the Site may not work as intended without them.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Site and business, and only as needed for them to do that work:

  • Bluehost, our website host
  • Kit, our email service
  • Payhip and its payment processors, for purchases
  • Google, Automattic (Jetpack), and OptinMonster, for analytics, security, and forms
  • WPForms, which powers our contact form

Each provider handles your information under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business.

Links to other sites and social media

The Site links to our Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest pages and to other websites. When you visit those sites, their own privacy policies apply, not this one.

How long we keep information

We keep email list information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep purchase records as long as needed for customer support and for tax and accounting purposes. We keep messages you send us as long as needed to respond and follow up.

How we protect information

We use reputable service providers and reasonable safeguards, including secure (HTTPS) connections, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we have about you
  • Correct information that is wrong
  • Delete your information
  • Stop sending you marketing emails

To make a request, email amy@augustusgardens.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local law, and we will honor them as required.

Children’s privacy

The Site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be shared by email with subscribers.
