Lime

A discount find that has paid off in small, plentiful limes.

Type: Citrus tree

Sun / water: Full sun / water as needed

When I plant it: Late winter, early spring, early summer. Citrus can get heat stressed, so watch for signs such as discoloring leaves.

What I’ve seen

Small white flowers. Citrus trees do not like soggy “feet,” so do not overwater, but do not let them dry out and curl their leaves; that invites pests.

How I use it

Sour. This lime tree has been rewarding me with fruit since I bought it at a discount in late spring. The limes are small but plentiful. Grate them for lime zest, squeeze them into Mexican-style dishes, and of course the favorite margarita!

New to my garden this year. I’ll update this as I learn more.
