Avocado

Grown from a pit: about three years to reach this size.

Type: Tree

Sun / water: Full sun / water as needed; do not allow it to dry out

When I plant it: Start pits anytime, but keep them from the cold.

What I’ve seen

Avocado trees, like this one, can be started from the pit. It takes about three years to reach this size, and it needs to be covered in winter since it does not like frost.

How I use it

Mild. Eaten raw, in guacamole, cut up for salads, and the ubiquitous avocado toast.
