Common Milkweed

A monarch host plant; the caterpillars’ food.

Type: Annual

Sun / water: Full sun / water as needed

When I plant it: Late winter to early summer. Watch for pests like aphids during hot, wet periods.

What I’ve seen

Purple flowers. A host plant for monarch eggs.

How I use it

Grown as a feeder plant for monarch butterfly caterpillars. The flowers attract other pollinators as well.
