Dill

A cool-season herb that black swallowtail caterpillars love.

Type: Annual herb

Sun / water: Full sun / every other day in early spring and early summer

When I plant it: Late winter. Dill does not like the heat and flowers when it gets too warm.

What I’ve seen

Goes to seed in summer, as it is not heat tolerant.

How I use it

Moderate. Pickling, or mix with Greek yogurt and cucumber to make tzatziki sauce, a Mediterranean condiment. Black swallowtail caterpillars enjoy it.
