Lemon

No soggy feet, no drying out, and a fall harvest.

Type: Citrus tree (Meyer lemon)

Sun / water: Full sun / water as needed

When I plant it: Late winter, early spring, early summer. Citrus can get heat stressed, so watch for signs such as discoloring leaves.

What I’ve seen

Small white flowers. Citrus trees do not like soggy “feet,” so do not overwater, but do not let them dry out and curl their leaves; that invites pests.

How I use it

Sour. Ready to harvest in fall for a variety of uses. Grate the skin for zest, or squeeze the juice onto fish, into water, or over a wide variety of foods. You are only limited by your imagination.

New to my garden this year. I’ll update this as I learn more.
