Pineapple

Plant one any time of year; protect it from the cold.

Type: Tropical

Sun / water: Full sun / water as needed

When I plant it: Any time of year. Bring it indoors or cover it during cold weather.

What I’ve seen

Generally hardy but cannot withstand prolonged cold. Takes about 7–9 months to produce a pineapple.

How I use it

Very sweet. Used in smoothies, salads, as a snack, and of course in the island tradition of the piña colada.
