Ornamental Sweet Potato Vine

An annual that comes back in a protected spot. I grow it for looks.

Type: Annual

Sun / water: Full sun / daily

When I plant it: Late winter, early spring, early summer. It can get heat stressed and drop its leaves.

What I’ve seen

Small purple flowers. This is an annual, but in the right protected conditions it comes back year after year.

How I use it

It will produce “fruit” if the plant is dug up. I have not tried them and will stick to enjoying it as an ornamental.

This profile shares what I have experienced growing this plant in my Central Florida garden. I am not a certified horticulturist, so results in your garden may differ.
